This policy explains what data SubTrackr collects, where it goes, and what choices you have.
Quick summary
- Subscription data you enter (names, prices, billing dates, notes) lives on your device.
- We do not run a backend server that stores your subscription list.
- If you turn on Premium AI Insights, the names, prices, categories, and usage frequency of your subscriptions are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate cancellation recommendations. We do not send your name, email, or device identifiers.
- Payments are processed by Google Play Billing. We never see your card number.
- Push notifications use Expo's push service, which requires a device push token.
1. Data you provide
When you add a subscription, you enter:
- Subscription name (e.g., "Netflix")
- Price and currency
- Billing cycle and next due date
- Category and free-text notes
This data is stored locally on your device using Android's encrypted storage. It is not transmitted to us.
2. Data we collect automatically
- None on our servers. We do not operate analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry servers at this time.
- Your device's operating system may log standard diagnostics (crashes, install events) that are visible to us through the Google Play Console in aggregate, anonymized form. We use this only to fix bugs.
3. Data sent to third parties
3a. Anthropic (Claude API) — Premium users only
When you tap "Refresh" inside the Insights screen, we send the following to Anthropic's Claude API:
- Subscription name, price, billing cycle, category
- How recently you marked each subscription as "used"
- Total monthly spend
We do not send: your name, email address, device ID, payment information, location, or any free-text notes.
Anthropic's processing of this data is governed by their privacy policy: anthropic.com/legal/privacy. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models.
3b. Google Play Billing — Premium users only
When you subscribe to Premium, Google processes your payment. We receive only a receipt token confirming your subscription status. Google's privacy policy applies to the payment itself: policies.google.com/privacy.
3c. Expo Push Notifications
To deliver renewal reminders, your device registers a push token with Expo's notification service. The token is stored on your device and is required to deliver notifications. Expo's privacy policy: expo.dev/privacy.
3d. Google Play Services
The app is distributed via Google Play, which collects standard install and crash data. See policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Data we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts.
- We do not access your location.
- We do not access your photos, camera, microphone, or files outside the app.
- We do not link bank or credit card accounts.
- We do not show ads or share data with advertisers.
5. Children's privacy
SubTrackr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will help you delete any associated data.
6. Data retention
- Local data is retained on your device until you delete a subscription, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
- Data sent to Anthropic is processed per their retention terms (typically 30 days for trust & safety, then deleted).
- Subscription receipts held by Google are retained per Google's policies.
7. Your rights
- Delete your data: uninstall the app, or use Android Settings → Apps → SubTrackr → Storage → Clear Data.
- Cancel Premium: Google Play Store → Account → Subscriptions → SubTrackr → Cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period; refunds are governed by Google's refund policy.
- Request data export or deletion (GDPR/CCPA): email cartertrey541@gmail.com. Because we store nothing on our servers, an export request will mostly direct you to your local app data.
8. International users
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have specific rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and the CCPA. Because we do not store your data on our servers, most data subject requests are fulfilled by deleting your local app data or contacting Anthropic / Google directly for data they process.
9. Security
Local data is stored using Android's standard app-private storage, isolated from other apps. Communication with Anthropic, Google, and Expo uses TLS encryption.
We cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not store sensitive secrets (passwords, account numbers) in the Notes field.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy when we make changes. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice on next launch.
